DEFINITION OF SUSTAINABILITY
A
sustainable society is one that can provide an acceptable livelihood to current
and future generations within the biophysical constraints of nature in a way
that is fair and equitable to all of humanity and all other species.
Sustainability
recognizes the inter-relatedness of the economy, society and the environment.
It requires that we do not consume resources faster than they can be renewed
nor produce wastes faster than they can be absorbed.
